Say Yes to Languages

We are delighted to be participating in the Say Yes to Languages module for the 2025/2026 school year.

This engaging and enriching initiative, now entering its fifth year, gives primary pupils the opportunity to explore a new language while also deepening their appreciation for cultural diversity in today’s interconnected world.

Program Goals and Structure

The "Say Yes to Languages" (SYTL) program is administered by Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI) and is designed to introduce modern foreign languages (MFL) into the primary curriculum. The initiative focuses on integrating additional languages alongside English and Irish, providing students with a broader linguistic and cultural perspective.

Key goals include:

Raising Awareness: The program aims to highlight the importance of modern foreign language education and its benefits for students' cognitive and social development.

Supporting Teachers: It offers professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their language skills and teaching methods.

Encouraging Participation: Schools are invited to apply for funding to support the implementation of language programs, with grants available for classroom resources and visiting language tutors.

5th and 6th Class will get the opportunity to explore the French language with our visiting tutor in the 2nd term
